About the Role
You will be joining Battle Flatts Veterinary Centre as Veterinary Head Receptionist, based across multiple practice sites. The role is permanent and full time, with 38.92 hours per week on a varied Monday to Friday shift pattern, plus a share in the weekend rota.
This is a hands-on front-of-house leadership role where you will help keep the reception team organised, supported and confident. The work is varied, with client contact, team rota planning, and day-to-day coordination all forming part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the receptionist team, including training, support and day-to-day guidance
- Create and manage the team rota
- Support recruitment and work with the internal recruitment team
- Handle incoming calls and arrange appointments efficiently
- Respond to queries by phone, email and in person with professionalism
- Welcome and register new clients
- Process and manage insurance forms
- Dispense medications as required
- Handle payments accurately and efficiently
- Use the in-house system to organise patients
- Liaise with veterinary practices over patient needs and queries
- Support clients with debt, belongings and refund calls where needed
- Help ensure every client feels welcomed and valued
Requirements
- Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role is essential
- Experience in a veterinary setting is a bonus
- Leadership skills are highly desirable
- You should be resilient and able to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
- Strong communication skills and genuine empathy are important
- Outstanding customer service skills and public-facing experience are required
- A positive attitude and strong teamwork skills are needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems is required
- Candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for clinical support roles
