This is a 12-month maternity cover contract offering genuine flexibility around your hours. You can work anywhere from part-time to the full 40 hours per week, and you'll be part of a rare veterinary environment where no OOH means your evenings and nights are truly your own (though you will share a 1 in 6 Saturday rota). You'll split your time across two sites: Stamford Bridge and Strensall, serving the York area and benefiting from excellent access to North Yorkshire's beautiful countryside.
Battle Flats Veterinary Centre is a well-established and highly respected small animal practice home to 10 vets with over 100 years of combined clinical experience. The team boasts special interests spanning dentistry, dermatology, exotics, and cardiology including PhD-level expertise. You'll be supported by a loyal, long-standing nursing team of 16 RVNs, PCAs, and receptionists, and modern facilities including laparoscopy, endoscopy, digital radiography, and separate dog and cat wards. The practice holds ISFM Cat Friendly and Rabbit Friendly accreditations and is known for its collaborative, welcoming culture.
Some sole charge work is involved, but you'll never be left unsupported. Knowledge is shared freely, ideas are encouraged, and the leadership team is genuinely approachable.
