🕐 Schedule & Rota

Mixture of day and night shifts: 5 days on / 5 days off, and 5 nights on / 10 days off rota. Night shifts include out-of-hours emergency cover with on-call support from referral specialists.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Eastcott Veterinary Hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care team as an experienced ECC Veterinarian. You’ll work a mixture of day and night shifts on a 5 days on, 5 days off and 5 nights on, 10 days off rota—designed to give you genuine extended time away from work. Your days will be spent in a dynamic, collaborative clinical setting; your nights will involve critical case management alongside experienced night nurses and rotating interns, with on-call support from referral specialists.

Based in Swindon, Eastcott is a Tier 3, ISFM Gold Status multidisciplinary referral hospital with a purpose-built ICU at its heart. You’ll be part of a team that handles referral and primary care emergency cases, gaining exposure to complex, varied caseloads in a well-resourced environment that encourages clinical development and peer learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-level critical care to ICU patients during day and night shifts
  • Triage and manage emergency referrals from local primary care practices
  • Provide out-of-hours emergency cover for the local practice network
  • Collaborate with in-house specialists and experienced clinicians across multiple disciplines, discussing cases and expanding clinical expertise
  • Support training and mentoring of junior clinicians and interns as appropriate
  • Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence and continuous professional development

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon with current RCVS registration
  • Hold, or be working towards, a certificate-level ECC qualification (e.g., RCVS Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care)
  • Demonstrable experience in emergency and critical care practice
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Proactive, positive attitude with genuine passion for emergency and critical care medicine
  • Strong team player who thrives in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
