About the Role

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover equal family leave within the surgical team at Eastcott Veterinary Referrals. Working part-time at 2 days per week, you’ll have flexibility whilst engaging with one of the region’s most respected referral practices. The role is perfect for a board-certified surgeon (ECVS/ACVS preferred, or completion of accredited residency) looking for meaningful specialist work without full-time commitment.

Eastcott Referrals recently underwent major refurbishment and now boasts state-of-the-art facilities including full minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and interventional radiology capabilities. You’ll work alongside an incredibly talented team of specialist surgeons and colleagues in anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, DOMFS, neurology, cardiology and ophthalmology. The caseload is excellent, diverse and genuinely interesting—including a well-established total hip replacement programme where you may mentor other surgeons through Biomedtrix accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specialist surgical procedures across the full range of soft tissue and orthopaedic cases
  • Contribute to the multi-disciplinary approach, collaborating with anaesthetists, radiologists and other specialists
  • Participate in the hospital’s total hip replacement programme, potentially mentoring other surgeons
  • Maintain the highest clinical standards in a busy referral environment
  • Support ongoing professional development within the team

Requirements

  • ECVS or ACVS board certification (preferred), or completion of an ECVS/ACVS-accredited residency
  • Current RCVS registration
  • Experience in referral-level surgery
  • A collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for multi-disciplinary working
