About the Role
This is a Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon position across Fair City and Crieff Vets, with a 50/50 split between the two sites. It is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, and part-time applications are also considered for the right candidate.
You’ll remain closely involved in first opinion small animal work while taking on a senior clinical presence across both practices. The role combines consultations, medical and surgical casework, clinical governance, mentoring and collaboration with the Practice Managers and wider leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultations and manage a varied medical and surgical caseload
- Lead clinical standards across both practices and support patient care quality
- Take responsibility for clinical governance, including audits, protocols and continuous improvement
- Act as a clinical point of contact for complex cases, including second opinions
- Mentor and support veterinary colleagues with CPD and clinical progression
- Support case discussions, clinical decision-making and development
- Identify ways to improve clinical processes, patient care and outcomes
- Build strong working relationships across the veterinary, nursing, reception and support teams
- Work closely with Practice Managers and the wider leadership team on clinical strategy and performance
- Continue to develop your own clinical interests
Requirements
- A veterinary degree and RCVS registration
- Significant experience in first opinion veterinary practice
- Strong clinical capability across medical and surgical cases
- Confidence supporting colleagues with complex cases and clinical decision-making
- Interest in clinical governance, quality improvement and clinical standards
- Strong communication, mentoring and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative leadership style and interest in developing others
- Previous leadership experience is advantageous, but not essential
