Part-time Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

A unique opportunity to step into sole charge practice management as a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Goddard's Barking branch. You'll work 2-3 days per week (8 hours per day, Wednesday to Friday), with Friday as a mandatory day. This part-time arrangement suits RVNs seeking flexibility without sacrificing clinical responsibility or career progression.

The role includes a 1:2 Saturday afternoon and 1:10 Sunday rota at the nearby Wanstead 24-hour Hospital, plus one bank holiday per year. Importantly, there are no on-call requirements. Positioned just 6 minutes from Barking Overground and Circle Line stations, the practice is easily accessible across London. The Barking branch benefits from exceptional clinical support through Wanstead Hospital, which offers state-of-the-art CT imaging, commercial laboratory facilities, advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, and specialist medical teams.

This role suits RVNs who thrive balancing clinical nursing with client relationship-building, and are ready to take the reins of a branch practice, implementing fresh ideas and managing day-to-day operations alongside the veterinary surgeon.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day practice operations and organisation alongside the practice veterinarian
• Provide sole charge clinical nursing across a mixed small animal caseload
• Support trainee nurse development and oversight
• Ensure smooth practice running during busy periods and problem-solve operational challenges
• Lead clinical nursing duties, including patient care, theatre support, and diagnostic assistance
• Build strong client relationships and provide nursing consultations
• Rota coverage at Wanstead Hospital on designated Saturday afternoons and Sunday shifts

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with current RCVS registration
• Comfortable working in sole charge branch environment
• Strong organisational and leadership skills
• Ability to manage practice operations and support team members
• Flexible approach to weekend rota commitments
• Valid driving licence (practice accessible by public transport but useful for flexibility)
