About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your veterinary career within a state-of-the-art hospital setting in Norfolk. You’ll join a team of experienced veterinary surgeons with diverse interests and expertise, all working in a truly collaborative and supportive environment. The practice emphasises helping each clinician pursue their passion and develop specialist skills at their own pace.

This flexible full-time or part-time role offers an excellent work-life balance: you’ll work scheduled daytime hours with a manageable 1:10 weekend rota (days only), and crucially, no on-call commitments. The practice runs its own night service, ensuring excellent continuity for clients and staff alike. You’ll split your time between the Fakenham and Dereham sites, both easily accessible with disabled facilities and on-site parking.

Supported by a fantastic team of nurses and support staff, you’ll have the chance to work with cutting-edge equipment and develop interests across a range of disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality first-opinion small animal veterinary care across medicine and surgery
  • Work collaboratively with specialist colleagues and advanced practitioners in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, medicine, and dermatology
  • Access on-site CT, laparoscopy, digital X-ray facilities and video endoscopy to provide comprehensive diagnostic and surgical services
  • Contribute to the practice’s referral work in imaging, soft tissue surgery, endoscopy, endosurgery, medicine and dermatology
  • Participate in the 1:10 weekend rota (daytime only)
  • Make full use of protected lunch breaks and scheduled administrative time each day

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (MRCVS or equivalent)
  • Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Enthusiasm for developing clinical skills in a supportive environment

About the Practice

Grove House is an established small animal hospital in Fakenham, Norfolk, founded in 1984. The practice is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including CT scanning, laparoscopy, digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray, and video endoscopy. It operates as a first-opinion practice whilst also running Grove Referrals—an on-site referral facility that accepts cases in dermatology, dentistry, endoscopy, medicine, laparoscopy, imaging (including echocardiography), orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery.

The practice also runs an animal ambulance service offering collection and delivery for clients who struggle to visit in person.
