🕐 Schedule & Rota

This is a daytime shift role (7:30am–7:30pm) with 4 days per week. No overnight or out-of-hours duties required. Night nursing is provided by dedicated night nurses at the 24-hour facility.

About the Role

Hart Veterinary Centre is looking for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its friendly clinical team on a full-time basis. This is a day-shift role with predictable hours: you’ll work 9 to 9.5-hour shifts across 4 days per week, with shifts starting as early as 7:30am or finishing as late as 7:30pm—giving you genuine time off to recharge.

The practice operates two modern sites in Bicester and Waddesdon, with the Bicester location functioning as a 24-hour hospital. You’ll be working within a small, collaborative team that values clinical excellence and a positive working environment. The facility is well-equipped with digital x-ray, a dedicated dental suite, in-house laboratory equipment, modern anaesthetic monitoring, and separate cat and dog wards. Hart Veterinary Centre is also a Silver Standard ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic, demonstrating its commitment to low-stress handling and patient-focused care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care across theatre, inpatient, and consultation settings
  • Support anaesthesia, surgery, and patient monitoring for first opinion cases
  • Run nurse consultations and provide preventative healthcare advice to clients
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to maintain clinical standards
  • Take responsibility for patient nursing care and contribute to ongoing development of practice protocols

Requirements

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS (essential)
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and effective workload management
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
