About the Role

Island Veterinary Associates is looking for a skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis, working across their Wombourne and Gornal sites in the West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a surgical bias—the practice is keen to tailor your caseload to your clinical interests and provide full certificate support to help you progress your specialist skills.

The role offers exceptional work-life balance: you’ll work 40 hours per week over 4 days, with 1:4 Saturday cover (and time in lieu given back). Crucially, there’s no out-of-hours or on-call work required. The practice is also open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate.

You’ll be joining a welcoming, close-knit team of 4 vets, 5 RVNs, and 2 SVNs who genuinely support one another. The practice is well-equipped with Idexx laboratory equipment and top-spec ultrasound facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality small animal clinical care across the Wombourne and Gornal practices
• Develop and pursue your surgical interests with the team’s support
• Contribute to a collaborative, supportive practice environment
• Work within a structured 4-day rota with 1:4 weekend coverage (Saturday mornings only)

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS
• Experience in small animal practice (level not specified—progression-focused candidates welcome)
• Demonstrable interest in surgical work preferred
• Team player with a commitment to supporting colleagues and maintaining work-life balance
