Island Veterinary Associates
Apply before: Mar 21, 2026
1:4 Saturday cover only (time in lieu given back); no out-of-hours or on-call work required.
Island Veterinary Associates is looking for a skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a permanent basis, working across their Wombourne and Gornal sites in the West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a surgical bias—the practice is keen to tailor your caseload to your clinical interests and provide full certificate support to help you progress your specialist skills.
The role offers exceptional work-life balance: you’ll work 40 hours per week over 4 days, with 1:4 Saturday cover (and time in lieu given back). Crucially, there’s no out-of-hours or on-call work required. The practice is also open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
You’ll be joining a welcoming, close-knit team of 4 vets, 5 RVNs, and 2 SVNs who genuinely support one another. The practice is well-equipped with Idexx laboratory equipment and top-spec ultrasound facilities.
Island Veterinary Associates operates two sites in Wombourne and Gornal (West Midlands) and is part of the IVC Evidensia group, a leading veterinary healthcare provider. The practice is known for its strong community focus and welcoming team environment. With 4 vets, 5 RVNs, and 2 SVNs, the team operates as a cohesive unit where work-life balance is actively prioritised and supported by management. The practice treats dogs, cats, and small pets, and is Rabbit Friendly accredited.
Island Vets is committed to diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging, and is a Disability Confident Employer. The practice actively welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds and those with disabilities or long-term health conditions, and is happy to discuss reasonable adjustments during recruitment.
