About the Role
You'll join Tern Vets, a well-resourced small animal practice on the outskirts of Newport, a picturesque market town in Shropshire surrounded by countryside. This is a full-time position (with part-time options considered), working a four-day week from 8:30am to 6:30pm, though flexibility for shorter shifts across five days can be discussed.
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll be at the heart of the clinical team, delivering high-quality patient care across a varied first opinion caseload. You'll support surgical procedures, manage inpatient recovery, run nurse clinics, and work collaboratively with five veterinary surgeons and four fellow RVNs in a practice that prioritises both clinical standards and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care across medical and surgical cases in a first opinion environment
- Support anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing during surgical procedures
- Provide inpatient care and manage patient recovery
- Run nurse-led clinics and consults, focusing on preventative healthcare and client education
- Work collaboratively with the clinical and support team to maintain practice standards
- Contribute to ongoing development of patient care protocols within the practice
Requirements
- RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
- Experience working in clinical practice with developing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational and workload management abilities
- A proactive, reflective approach to learning and continuous improvement
