Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Elm Veterinary Group has been caring for pets and their owners across Plymouth for over 100 years, and they're seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their established small animal team on a part-time basis. This is a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave, offering 30 hours per week across three weekday shifts (8am to 7pm) plus one Saturday rota slot per month (8:30am to 3pm, with time off in lieu during the week).

You'll work with a friendly, experienced and supportive team treating a diverse mix of small animal patients. The practice has invested in modern facilities including ultrasound, digital and dental radiography, endoscopy equipment, and laparoscopic equipment, ensuring you'll encounter varied and rewarding cases every week.

Key Responsibilities

• Theatre work including surgical nursing and patient support
• Conducting nurse consults and delivering direct patient care
• Dispensary duties and medication management
• Working collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to deliver high-quality nursing care
• Contributing to clinical standards and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
• A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
