Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a small animal Veterinary Surgeon role with Kibbles Veterinary, built around genuine clinical freedom and a more sustainable working week. Full-time can be four 10-hour days, while part-time can be as little as two 10-hour days, and there are no weekends or OOH.

The practice is looking for one or two experienced vets to join a growing independent team. You’ll be confident managing a varied first-opinion caseload and routine surgery, with scope to develop your own clinical interests, whether that is surgery, imaging or medicine. There is also the opportunity for the right person to move into a Lead Veterinary Surgeon position.

Kibbles describes itself as a collaborative practice with no rigid hierarchy, and the team includes vets, RVNs, an SVN, a VCA and reception staff. There is also support from a certificate holder in Small Animal Surgery and a visiting orthopaedic surgeon for more complex cases.

Requirements

• Experienced Veterinary Surgeon.
• Confident with a varied first-opinion caseload.
• Able to manage routine surgery.
• Interest in surgery, imaging or medicine is welcomed.
• Mentoring interest is beneficial, as support is needed for two recent graduates.

Benefits

• Salary of £60,000 to £70,000 FTE, depending on experience.

About the Practice

Kibbles Veterinary is an independent small animal practice in Teesside. It was created in 2024 with the aim of doing veterinary care differently, focusing on affordable, friendly and compassionate care, clear pricing, free consultations and modern medicine.

The practice is fully equipped and was designed by the people working there every day. Facilities include five consultation rooms with separate dog and cat areas, a dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray, digital X-ray, ultrasound and a full in-house laboratory. The team also works with a peripatetic surgeon for orthopaedic procedures.
