Junior Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position with Mercer and Hughes, a small animal practice in Saffron Walden. You'll join a friendly and collaborative team where you can continue developing your clinical expertise whilst working across multiple practice locations. The role offers a good balance of routine casework and the opportunity to build your emergency management and surgical confidence.

You'll be expected to work independently in sole charge situations when required, so this role suits vets with at least 2-3 years of experience who are comfortable managing their own caseload and making clinical decisions confidently.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage routine and general medical cases to a high standard
• Perform routine and basic surgical procedures independently
• Respond confidently to emergency presentations
• Work sole charge when required, managing the practice independently
• Provide continuity of care across multiple practice sites as needed
• Work collaboratively with the team to maintain high clinical standards

Requirements

• Minimum 2-3 years of clinical experience in small animal practice
• Confident in managing emergency cases independently
• Competent in routine and basic surgical procedures
• Comfortable working sole charge
• Flexibility to work across multiple practice locations
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• Full UK veterinary registration
