Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is an opportunity to join Lincvet as a Veterinary Surgeon within a friendly, 3-site, tier 2 small animal practice. The role includes a mix of surgical and consulting shifts, plus daytime care of inpatients at the main branch. Consult-only work can also be considered, and part-time hours are available for the right candidate.

The practice places a strong emphasis on work life balance, case continuity and a supportive clinical environment. OOH are covered by Vets Now, with weeknight stable inpatients sometimes hospitalised at the main site and managed by a veterinary nurse on rota support from a dedicated vet. The team also keeps vets working across the main branch and the other sites so there is time to build a client base and maintain continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide small animal veterinary care across consulting and surgical shifts.
• Look after inpatients during the day at the main branch.
• Support stable weeknight inpatients where appropriate.
• Work with the inpatient nursing rota and be available to support nurses if advice or assistance is needed.
• Deal with emergencies arriving between 6pm and 7pm before Vets Now opens.
• Contribute to continuity of care across the practice’s 3 sites.

Requirements

• A veterinary degree and RCVS registration, or eligibility to register.
• Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
• Strong communication skills.
• The ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
• A proactive approach to learning and openness to feedback.
• Professionalism, reliability and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• A passion for delivering excellent patient and client care.
• Recent graduates are welcomed.

• Salary up to £65,000 per annum DOE.

About the Practice

Lincvet is a 3-site, tier 2 small animal practice with progressive, friendly staff. It is a training practice with an open attitude to learning, and the team includes 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 10 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 7 Receptionists, an Administrator and a Practice Manager.

The practice has ultrasound, an in-house lab, digital x-ray, a tonometer and dental facilities including x-ray. Its Clinical Director holds a certificate in small animal surgery, and 3 of the RVNs are clinical coaches.
