Patient Flow and Triage Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Join London Vet Specialists as a Patient Flow and Triage Registered Veterinary Nurse in their multi-disciplinary referral hospital in Hammersmith. This is a unique opportunity to step away from traditional clinical nursing and make a direct impact on how patients move through the hospital. You'll work alongside the Patient Flow Coordinator and Head of Nursing Services to ensure smooth, efficient patient workflows from admission through discharge.

Based in a newly relocated, state-of-the-art facility on the banks of the River Thames in West London, this full-time permanent role is ideal for an RVN seeking a new challenge within a referral environment where previous referral experience is advantageous. While primarily non-clinical, you'll complete clinical rotations during induction to understand the hospital's operations and may assist with basic clinical duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Process patient admissions including ID confirmation, labelling, system entry into Animana and SmartFlow, and communication of zoonotic risk cases
• Liaise with the Patient Flow Coordinator to schedule procedures efficiently across all services
• Assist with emergency phone triage to gather case information and assess acceptance suitability
• Perform patient triage on arrival, directing cases to appropriate clinical teams or ICU
• Maintain high standards of hospital hygiene through cleaning and disinfection across all areas
• Support clinical consultations with patient restraint, sample handling, and consult room maintenance
• Provide basic nursing support to the clinical team and patient care standards

Requirements

• Current RVN registration with RCVS
• Experience in a referral hospital environment is advantageous
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and hospital hygiene
