About the Role
This is a senior operational leadership position at Cromwell Veterinary Group, a flagship multi-site operation across Cambridgeshire within the Linnaeus network. You'll lead a large, clinically advanced group recognised for excellence in patient care, team culture, and innovation. Rather than a traditional Practice Director role, this is a strategic opportunity to shape the direction of a high-performing, people-focused business with genuine scale and influence.
You will partner closely with Clinical Directors and Lead Vets to translate corporate strategy into operational reality, driving commercial performance while maintaining exceptional clinical standards. This is a permanent, full-time role suited to a commercially astute leader who thrives in complex healthcare environments and is motivated by influence, innovation, and measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the multi-site group ensuring operational excellence and consistency across all practices
- Partner with Clinical Directors and the Senior Leadership Team to align commercial performance with clinical standards
- Drive sustainable business growth through financial leadership, strategic planning, and operational innovation
- Own group-wide P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and performance optimisation across significant revenue
- Build, develop, and retain high-performing leadership teams with strong succession pathways
- Translate corporate strategy into clear, actionable objectives across all sites
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives enhancing efficiency, client experience, and colleague engagement
- Lead change management and transformation projects in an evolving veterinary landscape
- Ensure clinical governance, compliance, and service delivery standards across the group
- Use data and performance metrics to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, and inform decision-making
Requirements
- Proven experience leading large, complex, multi-site operations within veterinary, healthcare, or regulated environments
- Strong commercial acumen with significant P&L management experience
- Engaging, credible leader with emotional intelligence and ability to influence at all organisational levels
- Experience leading senior managers, clinicians, and teams through growth and transformation
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery in fast-paced environments
- Passionate about people development and creating high-performing cultures
- Comfortable working within matrix structures, balancing autonomy with wider business priorities
- Resilient, adaptable, forward-thinking with focus on innovation
- Desirable: Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with leadership experience, previous corporate veterinary or healthcare group experience, operational transformation or integration project experience
