Theatre Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Southfields Veterinary Specialists, part of Linnaeus, is recruiting a theatre nurse to support their rapidly expanding surgical department. You'll work within a multi-disciplinary, RCVS-accredited specialist referral centre in Essex, handling a large and varied caseload across orthopaedics, soft tissue, neurology, ophthalmology, and exotics. This is a full-time role with a rota of early and late shifts plus 2-in-8 weekends, with time off in lieu following weekend work.

Joining at an exciting growth phase, you'll help develop new procedures and ways of working as the hospital expands. The team combines consultants, residents, interns, nurses, and support staff, creating a dynamic environment where your contributions directly shape the department's development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical consultations and patient preparation from admission through to theatre
• Prepare theatres and theatre prep areas to theatre standards
• Monitor sedations and anaesthetics during procedures
• Provide sterile and circulating surgical support during operations
• Assist with pre and post-operative imaging and procedures
• Communicate post-operative requirements to ward nursing staff
• Deliver theatre-based training to the wider team
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures
• Develop and manage clinical audits
• Manage theatre stock and equipment

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse qualification
• Theatre experience or a strong interest in surgical nursing
• Teamwork and dedication to patient care
• Willingness to work early and late shifts plus weekend rota
• Aspiration to contribute to the development of surgical services
