Student Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a full-time Student Veterinary Nurse position working 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Friday. You'll join an established team at McMurtry & Harding in Ashbourne, part of inspiring vet care, the UK's leading vet care provider. This 36-month fixed-term contract offers a structured training pathway towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse, with dedicated support from experienced RVNs and Veterinary Surgeons.

The practice serves a mixed caseload including small animals, farm, and equine patients, with modern facilities including fully equipped operating theatres, separate consultation rooms, in-house laboratories, and comfortable cat and dog wards. You'll develop both clinical and non-clinical skills in a collaborative, values-led environment focused on continuous improvement and animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake training under the RCVS Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing requirements
• Monitor anaesthesia and assist with diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures
• Maintain tubes, drains, and support aseptic theatre practice
• Perform clinical nursing tasks including sample collection, medication administration, and patient care
• Maintain high standards of inpatient care
• Assist with surgical procedures under supervision
• Communicate effectively with clients and maintain professional standards of customer service
• Fulfil rota obligations, sick cover, on-call duties, and bank holiday cover
• Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and practice policies
