OOH Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a dedicated night veterinary surgeon position supporting out-of-hours emergency care across Medivet’s regional sites from a base in Chorley. You’ll work a 5 on, 10 off rota (7pm–9am shifts) on an annualised contract, giving you excellent work-life balance while managing a busy caseload of emergency and inpatient cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency and critical care treatment during night hours (7pm–9am)
• Work independently as the lead vet on shift, managing a varied caseload across multiple sites in the region
• Deliver inpatient care with a focus on compassionate, calm clinical decision-making
• Contribute to the supportive culture of the Chorley team and wider Medivet network

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
• Proven experience working in out-of-hours or emergency & critical care settings
• Confidence and competence working independently overnight
• Strong clinical skills in emergency and critical care management
• Team-focused approach with a calm, compassionate temperament under pressure
