🕐 Schedule & Rota

Dedicated OOH role. Every other Saturday & Sunday night, 7:30pm–7:30am, one week on / one week off rota. Average 12 hours per week. Always supported by a vet and PCA on site.

About the Role

This is a part-time registered veterinary nurse position at a dedicated small animal out-of-hours hospital in Maidenhead. You’ll be working every other Saturday and Sunday night from 7:30pm to 7:30am, averaging just 12 hours per week on a one-week-on, one-week-off rota—giving you genuine control over your schedule and time off.

The role centres on inpatient care, triage, and anaesthesia support, and would suit an RVN who enjoys working out-of-hours and is interested in emergency and critical care. You’ll never be working alone—a vet and PCA are on site throughout your shift, creating a supportive team environment where learning and collaboration thrive.

The practice is well-equipped with X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy units, so you’ll have the tools needed to deliver excellent patient care in a friendly, collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to inpatients, ensuring comfort and monitoring throughout the night shift
  • Perform triage assessments and support clinical decision-making alongside the veterinary surgeon
  • Provide anaesthesia support including induction, monitoring, and recovery care
  • Maintain the practice to the highest standard, ensuring quality of care and positive patient outcomes
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients during out-of-hours consultations
  • Support the broader team in creating a welcoming, professional environment
  • Contribute to ongoing learning and development within the ECC setting

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Passion for emergency and critical care nursing
  • Experience or genuine interest in working out-of-hours shifts
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care
