About the Role

This is a part-time position with MiNightVet Nottingham, a dedicated out-of-hours emergency service providing overnight and weekend care to the Nottingham area. You’ll be working a distinctive pattern: 3 nights on, 2 weeks off, then 4 nights on, 2 weeks off—designed to give you real recovery time between blocks. The role focuses on emergency and critical care cases across small animals, birds, exotics, poultry, and small mammals.

If you’re passionate about emergency medicine and want to deepen your expertise, this is a perfect fit. Many team members combine night shifts with daytime work at nearby practices, or you might choose to focus purely on the night rota. Accommodation near the practice can be arranged to support your schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency overnight and weekend care to small animal patients presenting with urgent conditions
  • Deliver full-scope ECC diagnostics, treatment, and stabilisation for dogs, cats, birds, exotic species, and small mammals
  • Work as part of a small, specialist team of qualified vets and nurses with dedicated experience in critical care
  • Contribute to the delivery of a high-standard emergency service across all aspects of urgent care
  • Support clinical continuity and handover between night and day teams

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (MRCVS or equivalent)
  • Experience in emergency and/or critical care preferred
  • Genuine interest in out-of-hours emergency medicine
  • Ability to work flexibly within the night rota pattern
  • A proactive approach to professional development
