Dermatology Specialist

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to build a specialist dermatology practice at North Downs Specialist Referrals, a purpose-built, single-site hospital nestled in an attractive part of Surrey with easy access to London, Gatwick, and Heathrow. You’ll work part-time (ideally 4 days per week, though flexibility exists for 2–3 days depending on your needs), with absolutely no weekends or out-of-hours commitments—a genuine work-life balance in specialist practice.

You’ll collaborate closely with a Cert AVP Dermatologist and benefit from a strong multidisciplinary team spanning 12 specialist services: surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, oncology, cardiology, neurology, dentistry, anaesthesia, and ophthalmology. The hospital is equipped with on-site MRI, CT, video-otoscope, digital cytology, and an extensive in-house laboratory. You’ll have the support of residents, rotating interns, and an exceptional RVN, SVN, and PCA team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist dermatological diagnosis and treatment for referred small animal cases
• Work collaboratively with the Cert AVP Dermatologist and wider multidisciplinary specialist team
• Contribute to clinical excellence across the dermatology service
• Support training and development of residents, interns, RVNs, SVNs, and PCAs within the dermatology team
• Engage with referring veterinary surgeons and pet owners to deliver high standards of care and communication

Requirements

• RCVS recognised Specialist in Dermatology or board-eligible dermatologist (e.g., ECVD, ACVD qualification or equivalent)
• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Surgeon
• Demonstrated expertise and commitment to specialist dermatology practice
• Strong communication skills and collaborative approach to team-based care
