Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

Palmer & Duncan is seeking a compassionate small animal vet to join their close-knit, RCVS accredited team in Ossett, West Yorkshire. This is a part-time position offering 20 hours per week across 3 days, with a manageable 1:6 weekend rota. You’ll be working in a practice renowned for building strong client relationships and delivering excellent patient care in a warm, collaborative environment.

Located just outside Wakefield and 12 miles from Leeds, Ossett offers the best of both worlds: easy access to city amenities (theatres, restaurants, music venues, shops) and beautiful countryside for outdoor enthusiasts. The town’s twice-weekly market and excellent transport links via the M1 make it an accessible and vibrant place to work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide primary care for small animal patients, with a focus on relationship-building with clients
• Undertake soft tissue surgery and medicine procedures
• Work collaboratively within a team of 8 vets, 9 nurses, and 9 client care staff
• Contribute to a supportive, positive practice environment where CPD is actively encouraged
• Maintain the high standards of care and compassion Palmer & Duncan is known for

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
• Strong soft tissue surgery and medicine skills
• Excellent client communication and relationship-building abilities
• Passion for providing the highest standard of patient care
• Experience level commensurate with the salary offered
