About the Role

You’ll join PDSA’s Dundee Pet Hospital as a Veterinary Surgeon on a 6-month full-time temporary contract (37.5 hours per week). This is a role where no two days are the same – you’ll encounter a wide range of medical and surgical cases that will challenge and develop your clinical skills while making a tangible difference to pets and families facing financial hardship.

The hospital is known as a highly collaborative, effective workplace with varied clinical interests across the team. You’ll work in a supportive environment where case discussion and shared learning are actively encouraged, giving you access to a broad pool of knowledge and experience when planning treatment and discussing cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care across a diverse small animal caseload (medical and surgical cases)
  • Make sound, evidence-based clinical decisions with pragmatic, welfare-focused judgment
  • Discuss realistic treatment options with clients, balancing best practice with individual circumstances
  • Collaborate with the experienced, caring team on case management and continuous service improvement
  • Contribute to PDSA’s mission of providing veterinary care for pets of people in financial hardship
  • Build trust with clients through excellent communication and positive working relationships with colleagues

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Adaptability and resilience to handle a varied and sometimes complex caseload
  • Clinical confidence and sound decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication abilities and ability to build client trust
  • Team player mentality with a collaborative approach to learning and knowledge sharing
  • Pragmatic, welfare-focused approach to clinical work

  • Salary: £45,269–£60,062 per annum (including allowances)
