Part-Time Night Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This part-time night nursing position offers a genuinely flexible schedule: just 25 hours per week across two nights every other week. You'll become part of Penmellyn Vets' dedicated night team at their St Columb Major Hospital, a 24/7 facility serving emergency and referral cases across Cornwall and South Devon. The night team is structured to ensure you're never working in isolation. Alongside you each shift will be a night vet, twilight nurse, and early morning prep room assistant or veterinary nurse student—creating a collaborative environment where you can deliver great care and develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient nursing care for hospitalised animals
• Support theatre operations during night shifts
• Triage out-of-hours emergency presentations
• Assist the night veterinary surgeon in delivering 24-hour emergency and critical care services
• Contribute to the St Columb Major Hospital's role as a regional referral centre, managing cases in orthopaedics, spinal surgery, soft tissue, cardiology, ophthalmology and emergency medicine

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification
• Experience in small animal nursing (preferred)
• Ability to work flexible night shifts on a rotating basis
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
