About the Role

You’ll be joining the surgical team at Pets ‘n’ Vets Roundhouse Vet Hospital, a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital serving Glasgow and its surrounding areas. This full-time position offers a manageable 4-day working week with a 1:3 weekend rota, giving you breathing room to develop your surgical interests without burning out.

Based on the Southside of Glasgow, the practice sits at the heart of a vibrant city packed with live music, museums, outdoor activities and sports—the kind of place that makes life outside work genuinely worth living. You’ll work alongside a friendly, enthusiastic team including multiple certificate holders, handling a varied caseload of primary care patients, internal referrals from the broader Pets ‘n’ Vets network, and externally referred cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard clinical care across primary, internal referral and external referral caseloads
  • Develop and progress your surgical skills with structured shadowing opportunities and hands-on experience
  • Manage your own patient cohort whilst contributing to the team’s wider surgical services
  • Engage actively in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to CPD delivery for local practice vets
  • Collaborate closely with the wider Pets ‘n’ Vets multi-site practice team through excellent internal communication
  • Utilise advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment to deliver best-practice care

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience in general practice
  • Orthopaedic/Soft Tissue Certificate holder OR actively studying towards a surgical certificate
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence
  • Strong communication skills with colleagues and external referral partners
  • Willingness to engage with clinical governance, audit and mentorship activities
