Full Time
Join a thriving 9-branch practice in Morpeth where your front-of-house skills will be valued. This 12-month fixed-term role offers variety, a supportive team, and access to one of the North East's most modern veterinary hospitals.

About the Role

You’ll be the welcoming face of Robson & Prescott, managing client interactions across a busy, multi-site practice. Your day will blend reception desk work with administrative tasks—answering calls, managing bookings, processing payments, and handling client queries both in person and over the phone. The role is dynamic and varied, with the pace and emotional nature of veterinary work bringing real engagement to each shift.

Based primarily at the Whorral Bank main hospital, you’ll also work across the practice’s branch surgeries and cover Saturday shifts on a rota basis. Hours are 8am–8pm Monday–Thursday and 8am–6.30pm Friday, working on a shift pattern to cover opening times. You must hold a full UK driving licence, as you’ll be moving between locations.

This is a fixed-term contract position lasting 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and pets, creating a positive first impression across Robson & Prescott’s nine branches
  • Answer telephone queries and manage appointment bookings for the main hospital and branch surgeries
  • Process payments and handle client administration
  • Work independently during lone shifts while maintaining strict health, safety and compliance procedures
  • Provide reliable, proactive support in a busy, sometimes high-pressure environment
  • Support the team across multiple sites as part of the rota system

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (essential—you’ll travel between branch locations)
  • Proven track record in client-facing service roles
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently
  • Proactive, can-do attitude with commitment to health and safety compliance
  • Emotional resilience to handle the urgent and sometimes stressful nature of veterinary work

Benefits

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave
  • Additional annual leave on your birthday
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and surrogacy pay)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Non-accidental injury support
  • Learning and development through the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Pawsome Benefits—reward gateway with discounts and cashback from hundreds of retailers
  • Pension scheme
  • Discounted staff pet care
  • Competitive salary
