Receptionist

About the Role

Rufford Veterinary Group is seeking a Receptionist to join their Southport branch, with flexibility to support their Rufford location when needed. You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, working within extended hours (weekdays 8:00am–8:00pm, weekends 8:00am–5:00pm) on a rota basis—though there’s room for discussion with the right candidate about scheduling preferences.

Based in a semi-rural setting at the gateway to North Wales and the Lake District, the practice is conveniently positioned near Liverpool and Manchester with good transport links. The team works with well-equipped facilities including digital X-ray, in-house laboratory, blood machines, ECG, ultrasound scanner, and endoscope.

Key Responsibilities

• Greeting clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism
• Handling telephone enquiries and managing appointment bookings
• Cash handling and financial administration
• Managing insurance claims, pet health care plans, and debt management tasks
• Supporting clinical and administrative team members
• Contributing to practice cleaning and general housekeeping

Requirements

• Full clean driving licence (required for flexibility between two sites)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
• Reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic team player
• Empathetic approach to clients and their concerns
• Efficient and capable of multitasking in a busy environment
