Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

St George's Vets is recruiting a Permanent Vet in Wolverhampton with a focus on developing orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical skills. You'll work alongside a dedicated Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgeon and take on a varied caseload across two sites.

The role is split between the main hospital and a dedicated consulting branch, with two days each week at the hospital and two days each week consulting. The surgical work ranges from routine neutering and dental procedures through to more advanced cases such as TPLOs, BOAS surgery, TECA, larger mass removals and laparoscopic spays.

A full-time pattern is 40 hours across 4 weekdays, with 1:5 Saturdays from 08:30 to 16:00. There are no out of hours or on-call duties at any site.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied small animal surgical caseload across both Wolverhampton sites.
• Carry out consulting duties at the dedicated branch for two days each week.
• Work on routine procedures such as neutering and dental surgery, as well as more advanced surgical cases.
• Collaborate with the wider clinical team, including the dedicated Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgeon.
• Contribute to patient and client care across the practice’s day-to-day caseload.

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration, or eligibility to register.
• Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
• Confidence or a strong interest in developing orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
• A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development.
• Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
