Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Bedford Vets for Pets is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to take on all aspects of nursing in a friendly and supportive setting. This is a full-time role, working 39 hours per week with 1 in 4 Saturdays from 9 am to 3:30 pm, and there are no OOH or Sunday shifts.

You will be joining a close-knit team made up of 5 vets, 5 RVNs, 2 SVNs and 1 VCA, supported by a reception team of 5. The practice places real value on collaboration, with regular vet, nurse and reception meetings, practice meetings and team building activities both inside and outside working hours.

The team is keen to use nurses to their full potential and supports ongoing development. The Head Nurse has been with the practice for 16 years and holds a nursing ECC qualification, while other colleagues also hold additional certificates and are working towards further qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care across all aspects of the role within a supportive practice environment.
• Work closely with vets, nurses, SVNs, VCAs and reception staff to support the client journey and patient care.
• Use the available facilities and space to care for patients, including laparoscopy equipment and schedule 3 procedures.
• Take part in regular clinical discussions and help work cases up in house.
• Support and mentor less experienced team members while contributing to a positive clinic culture.

Requirements

• Experienced and qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Strong communication skills.
