Veterinary Care Assistant / Receptionist

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where you'll split your time between reception duties and supporting the clinical team with day-to-day practice running. You'll be one of the first people clients meet, creating a warm, welcoming experience while also playing an important part in delivering outstanding patient care behind the scenes. Whether you're looking for full-time or part-time hours, the practice is happy to discuss a working pattern that suits you.

The practice is purpose-built in Llanishen, Cardiff, with excellent transport links, free on-site parking and easy access to the M4. It's just 10-15 minutes from Cardiff city centre, making it ideal whether you're travelling from within Cardiff or the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcoming clients and pets with a warm, professional approach
• Answering telephone and email enquiries
• Booking appointments and managing the practice diary
• Taking payments and handling client accounts
• Maintaining accurate client and patient records
• Preparing consulting rooms and clinical areas
• Assisting veterinary surgeons and nurses with consultations and procedures
• Caring for hospitalised patients and maintaining clean, comfortable accommodation
• Cleaning, preparing and sterilising equipment
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control
• Stocking clinical areas and keeping the practice organised
• Supporting the team to ensure excellent patient and client care

Requirements

• Genuine passion for animal welfare and customer care
• Enjoy working with both people and pets
• Organised and able to multitask in a busy environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Confident using computers and learning new systems
• Proactive, reliable and willing to help wherever needed
• Work well as part of a supportive team
• Previous customer service, reception or animal care experience (preferred but not essential)

Experience working in a veterinary practice or with animals would be an advantage but is not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
