Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You'll be the friendly, welcoming face of the Cannock Vets for Pets practice, greeting clients and their pets and ensuring every visit leaves a lasting positive impression. This part-time role involves 25 hours per week across a mix of early and late shifts, with 1 Saturdays in 5 (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.).

The practice is fast-paced and progressive, with five veterinary surgeons, a team of RVNs and SVNs, and a practice manager. You'll be part of a team that places clients and their patients first, delivering excellent care during both routine visits and more challenging moments. The practice is currently planning an extension to add three new consulting rooms, a hydrotherapy unit, and colleague facilities, with building work starting early 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle appointment bookings, procedures, and investigations via phone and online systems
• Advise clients on preventative care plans and manage cash handling
• Review debt reports, process pet insurance queries, and call clients about boosters and care plan products
• Greet clients warmly, manage payments, and coordinate future bookings using the online booking system
• Support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice with professionalism and enthusiasm
• Provide guidance to clients about practice services and additional offerings available

Requirements

• Previous customer service or client care experience is required
• Previous veterinary practice experience would be an advantage
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency with online booking systems
• Excellent communication skills and genuine passion for providing great client service
• Calm, attentive approach with ability to handle a busy, fast-paced environment
• Friendly, welcoming personality with ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to manage sensitive situations with care and empathy
