About the Role

This is a full-time or part-time opportunity (20-40 hours, negotiable including lunch breaks) at Warrington Riverside Vets for Pets, a newly refurbished practice with a strong focus on colleague wellbeing. You'll work alongside a stable, family-oriented team in a bright, well-equipped facility located within the Pets at Home store on Junction 9 retail park, just under 30 minutes' walk from the local train station. Warrington sits between Manchester and Liverpool (30 minutes from either via the M62), offering easy access to city exploration or coastal beaches in North Wales and Formby, with both cities' international airports nearby for weekend getaways. Weekend shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays, are part of the role, but hours are genuinely open for discussion to suit your lifestyle.

The practice has invested in first-opinion small animal care with top-quality equipment: digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, multi-parameter monitors, automatic blood pressure machine, and bipolar diathermy. The team includes 4 full-time vets, 8 RVNs, 3 VCAs, 5 CCAs, and an administrator, all led by partners Alex and Sam (JVPs for over 10 years). Alex is an OV with keen surgical interests, one vet holds a surgery certificate, and one nurse is a veterinary behaviourist accepting behavioural referrals in-house.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct first-opinion consultations (15-minute slots) with diary space for emergencies and on-the-day bookings
• Perform routine and competent surgery, supported by experienced surgical leadership
• Work collaboratively with the strong RVN team who conduct vaccinations, post-operative checks, and schedule 3 appointments to optimise clinic flow
• Contribute to the practice's RCVS accredited, ISFM and RAWF silver award-winning clinical environment
• Support colleague development through internal mentoring for new graduates and EMS placements for vet students (the practice is a recognised RVN and VCA teaching practice)

Requirements

• Veterinary degree (BVSc, BVetMed, or BVMS) and RCVS registration
• Competency in first-opinion surgery
• Open to all career stages: new graduates, early-career vets, and experienced clinicians
• Willingness to undertake weekend shifts including Saturdays and Sundays
