Animal Care Assistant

About the Role

This part-time Animal Care Assistant role is based in an emergency clinic setting, with a focus on supporting in-patients and helping the clinical team during busy shifts. The contract is fixed term for up to 12 months from January 2027.

You'll be working alongside Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons, helping to create a calm and comfortable environment for pets needing emergency care. The rota includes every other Wednesday from 19:00 to 23:00, every Saturday from 12:00 to 23:00, plus a fair share of bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons during emergency clinic shifts.
• Handle patients for basic procedures and help run diagnostic tests.
• Assist with setting up and clearing down theatres for surgical procedures.
• Attend to the basic husbandry needs of in-patients.

Requirements

• Ability to work within an emergency clinic environment.
• Willingness to work under the guidance of Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons.
• Availability for every other Wednesday evenings, every Saturday, and bank holidays.

The team describes a close-knit, collaborative approach in emergency care, with structured rotas and experienced clinical teams supporting one another under pressure.
