About the Role

Join Vets Now Hospital Glasgow as a Discipline-Specific Intern (DSI) in Internal Medicine and/or Oncology, starting September 2026. This is a structured 12-month training position designed for newly qualified vets keen to build specialist knowledge and clinical skills under close supervision from board-certified clinicians. You’ll rotate between Internal Medicine and Oncology, taking primary case responsibility alongside your mentors, and engaging in seminars, journal clubs, and clinical research projects that strengthen your portfolio for residency or certificate programmes.

Based in Glasgow city centre, you’ll work within a busy referral hospital that also provides first-opinion emergency care out-of-hours. The team collaborates seamlessly across anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, emergency & critical care, orthopaedics, and soft tissue surgery—meaning you’ll gain exposure to multi-disciplinary referral cases and advanced treatment planning. A 1:6 weekend rota applies within the OOH setting, giving you a reasonable on-call commitment alongside your core internship work.

Glasgow itself is Scotland’s vibrant cultural hub, with direct access to Loch Lomond within an hour, Cairngorms skiing, West Coast surfing, and 282 Munros for outdoor enthusiasts. Excellent flight connections via Glasgow International Airport make exploring further afield straightforward.

  • Support the collaborative, inclusive culture across the referral hospital team
  • Cover weekend out-of-hours duties on a 1:6 rota

Requirements

  • RCVS-recognised veterinary degree and eligibility for UK registration (or already registered)
  • Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship available—discuss requirements at application)

  • Genuine clinical interest in Internal Medicine and/or Oncology
  • Strong English communication skills; formal qualifications such as IELTS or TOEFL are desirable
  • Demonstrable commitment to high clinical standards, attention to detail, and professional integrity
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to learning and team working
