Veterinary Surgeon - Weekend

About the Role

This weekend-only position offers flexible shift patterns across Saturday and Sunday, with options for 1 in 4 or 2 in 4 weekend working. You'll gain hands-on exposure to varied emergency and critical care cases while working alongside experienced ECC clinicians in a well-established, collaborative Preston clinic environment.

The role is ideal for vets seeking additional hours or looking to develop their ECC skills without the commitment of full-time work. Shift types include Saturday 12:00-19:30, Sunday 08:30-19:30, or Sunday extended 12:00-22:00, plus bank holiday cover.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver emergency and critical care treatment across a varied caseload
• Work collaboratively with experienced Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Animal Care Assistants, and Receptionists
• Provide ongoing mentorship and clinical support to junior team members as appropriate
• Maintain clinical standards and contribute to the delivery of exceptional out-of-hours care
• Participate in the AdvantEdge blended-learning programme to strengthen ECC competencies

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration
• Some clinical experience and solid foundation in general practice (at least six months minimum implied by Cutting Edge eligibility criteria)
• Willingness to work weekend shifts and bank holidays
• Commitment to learning and developing ECC skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
