Full Time
Shared OOH
Ready to expand your exotic and zoo medicine expertise alongside an RCVS Recognised Specialist? Join a thriving Cotswold practice where your cases range from mice to giraffes, with genuine work-life balance and no OOH commitments.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No night-time out-of-hours work. Shared rota to cover zoological collections during working hours.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Chipping Norton Veterinary Hospital’s expanding Exotics and Zoo Medicine Service, working alongside an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine. Your caseload will blend first opinion and referral exotic pets with routine and emergency zoo visits across multiple zoological collections—from large safari parks to smaller specialist collections and educational institutions. Your day might involve exotic pet consultations, medical and surgical workups, and scheduled zoo site visits. Minimal small animal (dog/cat) work may be required. There’s no night-time out-of-hours commitment, though you’ll share a rota to cover zoo emergencies during working hours.

Based on the edge of a beautiful Cotswold market town, you’ll work a flexible 40-hour week typically spread across four days (08:30–19:00), plus a 1:5 Saturday rota (08:30–14:00). The practice genuinely prioritises flexibility—whether you need school pickups, reduced hours during holidays, or a completely bespoke schedule, they’ll work with you to get it right.

A postgraduate qualification in Zoological Medicine is preferred, but hands-on experience with exotic pets and zoological collections is what matters most. The practice will also consider visa sponsorship and offers relocation and welcome bonuses for the right candidate.
