Dispensary Operative

About the Role

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8am to 16:30 (40 hours per week) with weekend availability. You'll be at the heart of CVS's dispensary operations, responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispensing of veterinary medicines and products. Your work ensures timely medication supply and high standards of patient care across the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Picking and packing customer dispensary orders accurately and efficiently
• Despatching orders and preparing pallets for dispatch
• Receiving stock and supplies, checking for damaged or missing items
• Locating received stock to suitable storage locations
• Stacking and checking procedures
• Operating material handling equipment such as pallet trucks
• Using barcode scanners to ensure accurate order processing
• Maintaining dispensary machinery and equipment
• Inventory control tasks and stock management
• Keeping all paperwork accurate and up to date
• Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic working environment
• Staying aware of new medications and changes communicated by the VMD
• Adhering to all RCVS and VMD regulations and Good Distribution Practice procedures

Requirements

• Demonstrable dispensary experience (preferred but not essential)
• Good standard of literacy and numeracy
• Computer literate with experience using barcode scanners and material handling equipment
• Strong attention to detail
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
• Strong work ethic and ability to work reliably
• Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available for this role)
