About the Role
This is a part-time position working 30 hours per week at PDSA Basildon, a modern, collaborative small animal hospital. You'll see a diverse caseload of medical and surgical cases, working alongside an experienced team that genuinely enjoys case discussion and shared learning. Your clinical skills will be challenged and developed daily as you help pets and owners who truly need support.
PDSA Basildon is well-equipped with separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment. You'll work in a team that values pragmatic, welfare-focused decision-making and clear communication with clients about realistic treatment options.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care across a wide range of medical and surgical cases
- Build trust with clients and discuss realistic treatment options that balance best practice with each owner's circumstances
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to case discussions and shared learning
- Champion PDSA's mission of providing veterinary care for pets of people in financial hardship
- Contribute to continuous improvement of hospital services
Requirements
- Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS)
- Strong clinical confidence and evidence-based decision-making skills
- Adaptability and resilience to handle a diverse caseload
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Team player who enjoys a collaborative, supportive environment
