About the Role

Norwood Road Veterinary Surgery is a 100% small animal practice in Herne Hill, South London—just 15 minutes by train from Central London. You’ll be joining a close-knit team of 3 vets, a Head Nurse, 2 veterinary care assistants, a receptionist, and a Practice Director who genuinely collaborate and respect each other’s expertise.

This is a hands-on nursing role with real variety. Your days will span everything from puppy care and post-operative wound management to assisting with specialist surgeries and running diagnostic imaging support. Whether you enjoy nurse-led clinics, managing complex cases, or mentoring student nurses, you’ll find plenty of scope here. This is full-time or part-time work (typically 40 hours across 4–5 days), with no weekends and no out-of-hours commitments—the practice is genuinely flexible about working patterns to suit your life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care across a range of small animal cases, from routine procedures to specialist surgical support
  • Assist veterinary surgeons during consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures
  • Run nurse-led clinics and health checks as appropriate to your experience and interests
  • Support and mentor student veterinary nurses as they progress through their training
  • Maintain high standards of infection control and clinical practice within the team environment
  • Contribute to the practice’s commitment to ongoing quality improvement and learning

Requirements

  • Current registration with the RCVS as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Hands-on approach to patient care with genuine enthusiasm for nursing procedures
  • Team player mentality in a supportive, collaborative environment
