Registered Veterinary Nurse – Out of Hours

About the Role

You’ll join Swift Referrals’ night nursing team as a dedicated Night Nurse, working full-time or part-time on a permanent basis. This is a genuine opportunity to develop your emergency and critical care skills within a close-knit, supportive environment where your wellbeing matters as much as the care you deliver.

As a Night Nurse, you’ll play a vital role caring for first opinion and referral emergency cases, managing ICU patients and hospitalised referrals alongside experienced emergency clinicians, vets, nurses and animal care assistants. You’ll encounter a wide range of interesting and complex cases while receiving full support from the team as you settle in.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to ICU patients and hospitalised referrals during night shifts
• Work closely with emergency clinicians and the nursing team to manage complex emergency and critical care cases
• Monitor and assess inpatients, responding promptly to clinical changes
• Support first opinion and referral emergency admissions during your shifts
• Maintain the highest standards of patient care and nursing practice within the dedicated ECC and OOH centre
• Contribute to the collaborative team environment across the multidisciplinary referral hospital

Requirements

• Current RVN registration
• Attitude and aptitude are what matter most—full training and support will be provided
• Emergency or out-of-hours experience is desirable but not essential
• Additional nursing qualifications are an advantage
• Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care with integrity and compassion

About the Practice

Swift Referrals is a purpose-built, multidisciplinary referral hospital opened in 2019, specialising in orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. The practice is part of IVC Evidensia and features state-of-the-art facilities including MRI, CT, advanced imaging, modern theatres, separate dog and cat wards, and a dedicated ECC and OOH centre with a large ICU.
