About the Role

This is a full-time, hospital-based nursing position that blends direct patient care with coordination responsibilities. You’ll work within a busy clinical environment at Scarsdale Vets in Derby, supporting both first opinion and referral cases alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team. The role offers variety and genuine scope to develop advanced clinical skills while playing a key part in overseeing daily hospital workflow.

You’ll take on theatre work, anaesthesia monitoring, inpatient care management, and nurse consultations—delivering exceptional standards from patient admission through to discharge. This is a dynamic position for a motivated RVN who enjoys both hands-on nursing and the operational side of managing a busy hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily inpatient workflow, ensuring safe and efficient patient management
  • Deliver high-standard nursing care across theatre, wards, and consultations
  • Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing
  • Provide excellent client communication, including patient updates and discharge advice
  • Oversee the daily organisation of hospital patients and contribute to smooth practice operations

Requirements

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to coordinate multiple priorities
  • Experience or strong interest in inpatient and theatre nursing
  • Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to client care
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
